Black Baseball Players 7.8%
Black baseball players make up only 7.8 % of all the players playing major league baseball that's down from 28% when the first black baseball player (African American) baseball players like Jackie Robinson broke the color line in 1945 and became the first Negro baseball player to play professional major league baseball in America.

Why Blacks Are Not Playing Baseball?
The question "Why blacks are not playing baseball" has been ask over and over again. But the question should be why negro baseball players are not being recruited by the top white colleges for baseball? And why are professional major league baseball scouts not really looking to scout and sign more negro baseball players? Back to the question of why blacks are not playing baseball? The truth of the matter is that African Americans are playing baseball and has been playing baseball dating as far back as the 1800's well before Jackie Robinson when Negro baseball league players first established themselves as baseball players. The question of why blacks are not playing baseball have been ask on ESPN and other sport networks, but I have not heard anyone ask current African American baseball players what they think Major League Baseball should do to bring more negro baseball players up from the minor league system into major league baseball to get the percentage back up for black baseball players above 28%. MLB celebrates Jackie Robinson day every year but yet the numbers continue to decrease for Negro baseball players playing at the major league level.
Where To Find Black Baseball Players
I'm not buying into the notion that the percentage of black baseball players have fallen in Major League Baseball from 28% to 7.8% since the day the first back baseball player "Jackie Robinson" entered the league is because blacks are not playing baseball. THIS IS NOT TRUE ! Negro baseball players can be found playing baseball today in every community at the little league level, in high schools and at predominate black colleges and universities all over America. But the number continue to decline at the Major League Baseball level. Because the minor league baseball farm systems are not seen on TV like the Major League level of baseball it's hard to determine what percentage of those players who are black players at this lower level of professional baseball. So, please stop insulting the intelligence of people by saying the reason for the decline of Negro baseball players in Major League Baseball is because blacks are not playing baseball. This is not true, because there are a good many playing in the minor league system as well it's just that you don't see them. Stop discourage and excluding
black baseball players
from playing the game that they have always played and love since the 1800's by saying blacks don't play baseball this not true.
"What's The Solutions"
The solution is simple draft more high school and college black players and allow those players that are already in the minor league farm system an opportunity at the major league level.
Scouting Black Players
Professional baseball scouts are not willing to spend mush time at predominate black high schools or colleges like they do at predominately white high schools and colleges to scout talent.Let Me Give You A Prime "Example"...! In Houston, Texas Rice University,The University of Houston andTexas Southern University are very close to one another. I would say that they are less than 3.5 miles apart between the three Universities. But, whenever MLB scouts are scouting baseball games you can see that at the predominately white University of Houston and Rice University you can see scouts showing up consistently in numbers from 10-20 scouts at one time would be there through out the course of any given game day. However, when it comes to scouting baseball games at the predominately black Texas Southern University not very many scouts show up to scout black players. On any given game day their will be 0-3 scouts that may show up during the season to scout these players.
ESPN Question On Blacks In Baseball
The question why blacks play football and basketball and not baseball was directed to Carl Crawford and Jimmy Rollins on one of the ESPN network I believe. I don't remember exactly what their answers to that question was. But, I believe their answer to the question was because basketball and football was more exciting than baseball and baseball was slow, boring and not a lot of excitement like football and basketball. But, that is not the reason because blacks are playing baseball even before blacks was allowed to play major league baseball they were playing baseball, football, basketball, running track and it has always been that way even until this present day in time. However; what I do know that's not the answer to why blacks are not playing baseball. My recommendation to both Crawford and Rollins is the next time that a sports network interview you about blacks not playing baseball I suggest that you have a better answer then because we play football and basketball.
My Recommendation
The next time that ESPN or any sports network interviews a formal or current black MLB player about why blacks are not playing baseball I recommend that you pose the following question back to MLB and ESPN. Since Major League Baseball are saying that blacks are not playing baseball...and since they are having such a hard time of finding black baseball players... why don't MLB start sending more scouts on a regular bases to all those black high schools and colleges with a baseball program to find more black players? Get Help From Formal and Current Professional Baseball Players So, why not have MLB ask current and formal African Americans MLB players starting with Crawford and Rollins to give them a list of names with contact information of those black baseball players to contact and who they recommend and believe can play baseball at both the college, major league or minor league levels to help MLB fine more talented black baseball players and to help keep them from getting passed over as they do each year during the major league baseball draft.
One Thing That I Do Know That's A Fact:
None of the predominate white college football programs or professional football organizations have a problems when it comes to finding talented black football or basketball players to play on their teams. So, Why are we having this problem now when it come to college and professional baseball?
